The human sensory system evolved around practical
needs of primitive creatures, namely reproduction,
eating, and to avoid being eaten. As we move into the
21st century, however, we are being forced
to deal with needs that are defined and handled by
means outside our sensory systems. We've outgrown
primitive sensory systems, and find ourselves
forced to think, work, and play in a world driven by
totally abstract structures and forces -- a world
where mathematics defines the structures and directs
information between our sensory world and the vast
reality that lies beyond the senses. |
